Today our guest blog comes from Mark Shearring of Maxwell Grant Consultancy, a member of our Connected100 Business Club. In this blog, he shares his personal journey since moving to Brighton, how music and beach tennis shaped his local life, and how he helps businesses save money through cost procurement, all without charging a fee.

Meet Mark
Hi, I’m Mark Shearring and Lyndsey has asked me to introduce myself and my business.I count myself very lucky to have moved to Brighton in October 2017. Music is so important to me. I listen to my sounds every day and go to many gigs, especially locally, as Brighton has so many fab music venues. I thoroughly enjoy my daily walks with my headphones on, singing badly, which makes me very happy, but not for anyone hear me singing…!
Singing badly brings me on to another passion of mine, karaoke. I now organise karaoke evenings in local pubs. I arrange karaoke evenings primarily for my beach tennis club which I have started playing since moving to Brighton. I play beach tennis regularly in the summer and have travelled to Aruba, Sardinia and Barcelona to play in tournaments and am playing in Rimini in June to play in the World Championships.

Finding Community in Brighton
I am very fortunate to have made many friends since moving to Brighton, mainly through beach tennis and music. However, I count myself very fortunate to have met Lyndsey about three years ago at a business networking show at the Amex. Lyndsey explained the concept of Connected Brighton and I joined immediately. Anyone who knows Lyndsey will agree that she is such an awesome host and has natural social skills to organise successful and varied inclusive events. Every attendee is made to feel welcome. I have made some great friends from Connected Brighton, which is all down to Lyndsey.

Introducing Maxwell Grant Consultancy
When Lyndsey started Connected100 and invited my company to join as the business cost procurement specialist for the group, I jumped at the opportunity. I set up Maxwell Grant Consultancy over 22 years ago. I help businesses and charities reduce their business costs on services and products such as:
Gas and electricity tariffs
Card terminals, till systems and card processing fees
Hosted telecoms
Broadband
IT inc support, cybersecurity and Office 365
Mobiles
Insurance
Finance
Photocopiers and Printers
How It Works
I do not charge for my consultancy. The client retains all the savings that I find, as I earn my money directly from the new supplier. I have accounts all over the United Kingdom including many in the local area and if you would like any testimonials/references, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Why Connected100 Works for Me
I have benefited greatly from being a Connected100 member. I have been to Connected seminars where members share expert knowledge, advice and best practice for their industry/service. Lyndsey organises Connected100 Member only networking events that are not only fun and varied but gives us members the opportunity to network with each other and to build relationships and in some cases, form collaborations and place business with one another.

Let’s Talk About Saving You Money
I’d welcome the opportunity of reviewing your business costs. You have nothing to lose. If I can’t save you money, then you have the reassurance of knowing that you’re paying a competitive rate/tariff for your service or product.
Thanks Lyndsey for giving me your Connected100 platform to showcase my company x
